PCA 968 Register eNewsletter: March 2010

Hello 968ers,

Well, next week has us starting March which means spring is coming but based on the continued snow storms around the country winter is not giving up without a fight. That said, it is only a matter of time before the warm weather gets here.

I have a few updates for you. First off, I purchased a coupe to go with the cab. It is a 94.5 and it needs some TLC but it is a nice car. It is painted a pleasant color of K6 Aventurine (green, 1 of 64), not exactly a “Jeff Coe” color car which would be pink or yellow or something loud but still nice. It has 17”s and limited slip so we’ll get her fixed up and see what happens. Note the deer whistles on the front fenders, a very rare option J . Here is a photo:

Next, be sure to pick up the current issue (April) of Hemmings Sports and Exotic car. They did a 6 page 968 buyers guide and you may recognize the featured car.

With the return of the nice weather comes the show season. We start of the 968 season with our 2010 Hershey Celebration held from April 23rd until the 25th. Your event team is working hard to put together a great event. All the details are at the bottom of this note so kick off the 2010 season by joining your fellow 968ers at Hershey. The weather is usually great. We had 70s and sun last year and this year there are a number of new activities and a new agenda including the return of the fun run. A good time will be had by all.

While on the topic of shows and get-togethers, if you plan to be at one and would like to put the word out to fellow 968ers let me know and I’ll include a mention in the next E-newsletter.

For this month’s interesting North American 968 production fact I present to you the Chesnut brown interior. This color was offered as a standard color offering (no extra cost for the color) for the 94 and 95 model years. You could get it in 5 variations, full leather, leather seats only, partial leather (inserts), and cloth “Porsche” script on either the full seat or just the inserts. That said, not too many were built. By the time North American 968 production was done only 6 coupes and 5 cabriolets were produced with this color interior so they are a rare site. Below is a photo of a rare chesnut brown interior.
